There are so many fun events going on this month that invite you and the whole family to get outside and enjoy the beautiful spring weather. Those new to Oregon and ready to get their hands dirty will love the gardening event at the Oregon Gardens. Not only do you get to plant flowers at the most beautiful spot in Oregon, but you’ll also get some flowers to take home and plant! You can sample some of Oregon’s finest microbrews at Cinco de Micro, and don’t miss your chance to cheer on the runners as they charge through the Capitol at the Willamette Valley Marathon.

Celebrate Mexican independence--and big brewery independence--at Cinco de Micro at the Salem Convention Center. Featuring selections from more than 50 breweries, cider houses and distilleries, plus live music, local food and more. Admission ranges from $5 for designated drivers to $20 in advance or $35 at the door, and includes four taste tokens and a mug, with additional tasting tickets available.

Join the Oregon Garden for a day outdoors planting our spring annual flowers at Digging in the Dirt. After you are done, sit back and relax in the beautiful Garden with a brunch buffet, live music & bottomless mimosas—it’s the perfect day to spend with mom! You will also receive a piece of the Garden to take home with you. General admission tickets are $35 and Garden Member admission is $30. Children 4 and under free.

The Keizer Volunteer Firefighters Association will hold its annual Mother’s Day Breakfast at the Keizer Fire Station. Give Mom the morning off and join the Firefighters of the Keizer Fire District for breakfast on this very special day with all the pancakes, eggs, and ham she can eat. It’s just $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 12, and all proceeds go to programs and events sponsored by the Keizer Volunteer Firefighters Association.

Join us for the Willamette Valley Marathon! This unique event runs along the banks of the beautiful Willamette River starting in front of the Oregon State Capitol. Runners travel through the heart of Salem before crossing the brand over Peter Courtney Bridge and onto miles of paved paths that meander through the Minto-Brown Island Park. The run finishes at Salem’s Riverfront park with catered lunch and wine pairings to top off your Willamette Valley experience.

The Salem Saturday Market adds Monday and Wednesday markets beginning in May. The POP kids club offers an interactive market experience for children, including tasting produce and learning about food, agriculture and exercise in this nationally recognized program. Shop local food and crafts while you listen to live music and see live street performances!
